Atlanta Training with The Masters-April 2013

At the end of this month I and Kru Ted will be going to Atlanta to the Train With the Masters Seminar at Sifu Francis Fong’s Academy. I feel very blessed to have been training with these men for the past 29 years.

I feel like it’s important to be affiliated with reputable people who continue to learn themselves and not just stand up in front of a class and give lip service. They continue to train themselves. At 76 Guro Inosanto can out train most guys in their thirties.  Train With The Masters gives Ted and myself time to train with our instructors which helps us to give more to our students. It’s sometimes not easy  to get in your own training when you own a school. The training will include WingChun Kungfu, Kali Escrima, Filipino Martial Arts, JunFan GungFu/JKD Concept, and Muay Thai!!

We will be leaving on Thursday night in order to start the Friday noon session with Prof Pedro Sauer in Gracie Jiu Jitsu. I prefer the Gracie Jiu Jitsu because it’s less oriented toward competition. Doesn’t make one right or wrong, it’s just preference.

Sifu Francis Fong will teach a Friday night Wing Chun session. Wing Chun teaches me to be patient and listen to what’s going on inside.

Masters Seminar

Sifu / Guro Inosanto will teach Saturday & Sunday morning sessions in Jun Fan Gung Fu / Jeet Kune Do and the Filipino Martial Arts of Kali & Silat. Kali and Silat have taught me to go with the flow and not worry about what I just missed. It will come around again in some fashion.  Last and certainly not least Master Chai will teach Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Working with Master Chai has taught me that everything is a test and that something will be revealed to me about myself at some point.

It will be a weekend filled with training, connecting with old friends, making new friends and taking time for my  training. Also, spent spoiling Katie Fong.

Martin Academy is growing and moving in a positive direction. I feel blessed to have Ted Georgas, Larry Leinhauser and the apprentice  instructors with me. Without Kru Ted, Renshi Larry and the apprentice instructors, Skylar Bragg, Joshua Golden and Bruce Mason,  we wouldn’t be able to have the quality type of school we now have. I’m always looking for quality students who want to take their training one step further. For many years I trained in other arts, just going through the motions. Then when I found Sifu Dan Inosanto, Master Chai and Sifu Fong I knew I was home. They are instructors and cherished friends.  Looking forward to being a student for the weekend.

Don’t forget in August Martin Academy will have another cherished friend / instructor to the academy. Erik Paulson will be teaching his Combat Submission Wrestling. Contact Martin Academy of Martial Arts for exact date and to get your name on the list.
