Little Leaders JKD

We have developed Little Leaders Jeet Kune Do  program to provide your child with many personal and social benefits, some of which are as follows:

1. To establish discipline in, and courtesy of, the child.  The concept of respect is of paramount importance , and a primary principle of, to martial arts instruction.

2. To build and improve the child’s self-confidence, mental strength  and character.

3. To establish and develop physical coordination; to increase and improve physical strength and flexibility.

4. To provide the child with a sense of achievement and accomplishment through the awarding of higher ranks and status in his or her class. Higher rank comes with having the right attitude, knowing the age appropriate material, being able to perform in front of others, good behavior at school, home and at martial arts.

5. To impart the concept and principles of self-defense.  A basic principle of all martial arts is its value as a means of self-defense.  The children are instructed that martial arts is not to be used outside the classroom in any manner other than as a last resort of self-defense. That, while  they do have the right to defend themselves from physical and mental assaults, there is acceptable and unacceptable ways in defending themselves.  Our children’s program, has been designed to develop children who are strong in both mind and body, armed with tools to defend themselves against potential physical threats, and the confusing and corrupting hazards facing the youth of today. Strong in mind and body helps them to say no to the outside world peer pressure.

6. To impart the foundational concept of self-fulfillment by teaching methods of physical, mental and spiritual development.

7.To develop the child’s mental attentiveness, stamina and focus.

8.We try to help the child to also learn to deal with disappoint in an acceptable way as well , which is part of life. Parents who never allow their child to be disappointed or feel everyone should get a trophy mindset does not help the child in dealing with the real world.  We want to give  children the skills, having confidence of knowing they can deal with whatever the world throws at them, while they are young.

9.We try to instill “right and wrong” in kids and  help them learn self-control. Children need to know what to do and that they have options should something negative happen in their world.

The physical elements are age appropriate for the children in the 5 to 8 age group.  The
behavioral and ethical elements are taken from our combined experience in the martial arts, as
well as life in an increasingly challenging world.

Mostly, though, we hope to instill ideals that last well beyond the classroom. We want to develop them while they are young, and they can have this for life.
